What is a vintage?
In oenology, this expression designates the year of grape harvest and wine production.
A vintage champagne is a champagne that has not been blended with previous years. The wines come from a single harvest and have met exceptional maturation conditions. The winegrowers therefore decided to preserve its unique character and make it known to the public. Each vintage has its own characteristic.
In addition, in terms of aging, vintage champagne must be kept for a minimum of 36 months. Unlike a normal champagne which can be marketed from 15 months.
So for De Lozey champagnes, we are talking about a vintage of 1999, 2002, 2004, 2006 or even 2008.
What is the difference between champagne millésimé and vintage champagne?
The term Vintage generally applies to millésime. However, the difference lies in the exceptional nature of this one. Generally a vintage champagne is kept for at least 3 years, and sometimes up to 5 years. Vintage champagne offers the vintage an even longer aging time on lees. Thus, it is not uncommon for vintage champagnes to be kept for 7 or 10 years in the cellar.
Furthermore, a vintage champagne is a champagne that stands out for its exceptional character. It is made from great wines, with great aging potential. Vintage champagne is a collectible champagne that we readily associate with gastronomy.

The history of De Lozey vintages
Vintage champagnes are those champagnes produced with the harvests of exceptional years. Very mild weather conditions, harvests carried out when the grapes are ripe, fruits bursting with sugar.
Maison De Lozey has cultivated vines with passion for generations. Our work to produce the best champagnes takes place all year round. It is only at the moment of tasting that we are able to determine whether or not we are in the presence of a vintage.
Even if nature plays a large part in the development of a vintage, the work of man should not be neglected. We monitor acidity, levels and maturity index very closely.
Thus, all these conditions combined, we managed to produce exceptional vintages in 2002, 2004 and 2008. Other De Lozey vintages are great vintages like 1999 and 2006.
